WhatsApp for iOS has removed the function to save Profile images of individual contacts in the latest beta version of the app. This clearly means you will not be able to save someone’s profile picture on your phone. This is not the first time that WhatsApp has removed this feature. Previously, WhatsApp removes this feature from its Android app and now its time for iOS. This step has been taken to protect user privacy to which Facebook has been dealing from long.
WhatsApp rolled out the new beta app version 188.8.131.52 for iPhone via the TestFlight program, and the update has removed the possibility to copy, save and export the profile picture of your contacts. WABetaInfo first spotted this change and says that the feature is still available for groups, where you can save group icons. WhatsApp has already removed the same feature in WhatsApp Business beta for iOS 184.108.40.206 and Android Beta 2.19.143 a few weeks ago.
Apart from this, the latest WhatsApp beta 220.127.116.11 for iPhone update also introduces some album improvements. With this improvement, when users will now receive multiple photos in a chat, WhatsApp will show the total size of the album and the number of items that are there in it. This is what you have already seen on the Android app.
Furthermore, the update also revised its audio export format. The official voice message format in WhatsApp is Opus. Unfortunately, opus is not supported by many apps. Therefore, to solve this “issue”, WhatsApp for iPhone now exports Opus files as M4A (AAC codec). Apart from this, other changes in the latest WhatsApp beta for iPhone include improvements for streaming videos, improvements to receive messages notifications, and improvements for voice over.
