Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp is working on the ‘Kept Messages’ feature. The company is reportedly working on this feature that will enable users to bookmark Kept Messages in the chat.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, the instant messaging platform is now adding another new feature that will allow users to ‘identify’ the Kept Messages. An icon will help users as a visual indicator that the disappearing message has been saved/kept and will not disappear from the chat.
The feature is expected to arrive with an upcoming WhatsApp beta update and is likely to be available for Android, iOS and desktop versions. However, WABetaInfo has offered a preview of the upcoming Kept Messages feature.
What is the Kept Messages feature and how does it work?
As per the report, the Kept Messages feature temporarily converts a disappearing message into a standard WhatsApp message for users to find it in the chat even after its expiration. WhatsApp is expected to add a new section called “Kept Messages” within the chat info tab where users will be able to find these messages and this section is likely to be available for all the members in a conversation.
What is the disappearing messages feature
Disappearing messages is an optional feature that offers more privacy to users. When a user enables disappearing messages, he/she can set messages to disappear in 24 hours, 7 days, or 90 days after the time they are sent.
What is WhatsApp Message Yourself feature?
Recently, WhatsApp also introduced the Message Yourself feature. As the name suggests, the feature allows users to send text notes, photos, videos, voice notes and reminders to their own number. Message Yourself feature on the Meta-owned platform is basically a 1:1 chat with yourself. Earlier, the same was possible with a workaround.
