WhatsApp to soon get this ‘missing’ feature

0

One of the most important missing features on WhatsApp as an instant messaging platform is that it natively does not allow users to take self notes. The platform does not allow users to send self notes from the linked devices and this is also something other instant messaging platforms offers from a while now. Sure there are workarounds for that by using saving their phone number and opening it into chats, but it does not support this feature natively. Also, the feature limits users to their primary device only as the chat does not appear on linked devices.
WABetaInfo has reported that the instant messaging platform is working on a solution that will allow users to take self-notes using linked devices. The website has also explained how the feature works.
WhatsApp to add self notes feature on Desktop Client
According to the report, WhatsApp has started testing the self-notes feature for WhatsApp Desktop beta. This means the feature will first arrive on the Desktop client. The report also claims that the company is planning to add a similar feature on the Android and iOS versions of the app as well in coming future.
The feature will let users send important things, key points or any other information that they want to note down for future reference.
How will the self notes feature work
According to the screenshots shared by WABetaInfo, users can choose the personal chat option while searching for the contents within WhatsApp Desktop beta. Tapping on the option will open a new chat window for taking notes.
It is also important to note that this chat will appear on other devices including primary and linked when logged in with the same WhatsApp account.
Although, it is not clear whether the personal chat will be a part of WhatsApp backups or not. Or if WhatsApp is planning to offer an additional option to users allowing them to choose whether they want to backup their personal chat or not.
