Alia Bhatt announced her pregnancy yesterday, taking everyone by surprise. Alia and Ranbir Kapoor’s loved ones and fans flooded the internet with happy wishes for the soon-to-be parents. However, Ranbir’s late father Rishi Kapoor is sorely missed during this momentous time for the Kapoor family. The actor who passed away two years ago had once shared his thoughts about fatherhood and Ranbir Kapoor starting a family.
In an old interview with actor Anupam Kher, Rishi Kapoor had opened up about his bond with his son and the kind of bond he hoped Ranbir would have with his kid. During the chat, he mentioned his own father saying, “He [Raj Kapoor] did not have time for his children. Either he was working for someone, or he was directing and starring in his own movies. So when I became a father, I decided to not shoot on Sundays and dedicate that day to my kids.”
He added, “I know what I missed out with my father, so I made sure to fill in those gaps, likewise, I am sure Ranbir will do something with his kid what he missed out with me. I think I have inculcated a sense of tradition and culture in that boy.”
In another interview, Rishi Kapoor had also opened up about telling Ranbir Kapoor that he must be careful while choosing his partner as that person would be the mother of kids and the great grandkid/s of Raj Kapoor.
Alia Bhatt shared the news of her pregnancy in a not-so-cryptic Instagram post captioned, “Our baby, coming soon.” Since then, good wishes have been pouring in from the couple.
