One in five pensioners are living in poverty in the UK, according to a report published by the Centre for Ageing Better which says this adds up to two million people who have reached state pension age.
Meanwhile, some £15billion is lost in unclaimed benefits every year in the UK with pensioners the most likely group of people to be missing out on DWP benefits, according to Age UK.
Britons can claim Attendance Allowance if they have a disability or health condition that affects their ability to carry out everyday tasks.
They don’t need to have a full time carer to qualify either – the money can be spent on anything from energy bills to the food shop.
