Why Disney Twisted Wonderland International Fans Are Unhappy With English Release

0

Aniplex and Disney finally decided to release Twisted Wonderland in English and the game is available now on iOS and Android, but there’s a certain issue making several international fans unhappy.

Disney Twisted Wonderland was first released in March 2020 in Japan, and after nearly two years of wait it’s finally out in English. Twst, as it’s nicknamed, is unashamedly a pure otaku game with a simple concept: What if we took Disney villains’ traits and made them into pretty boys you can interact with at school. And what if we asked Black Butler‘s Yana Toboso to take care of it for maximum ikemen energy.

Note however that this is not dating sim. Twisted Wonderland is akin to a visual novel. A “narrative RPG”, where you’ll spend most of your time listening to and reading dialogues.

Why Disney Twisted Wonderland‘s International fans are unhappy

The main reason why international fans are unhappy with this English release of Twisted Wonderland is that you cannot play the game unless you are in the US or Canada.

Fans have been sharing their sorrow on social media as they can’t download the game. However, there are several ways to go around this restriction.

How to download and play Twisted Wonderland in English outside the US and Canada

The easiest way to go around the region-lock and play Twisted Wonderland in English is to download and use QooApp. It’s an app manager that lets you download mobile games regardless of your region. You don’t need to create a QooApp account to use it too.

Funnily, even Yana Toboso herself got a “””special””” Android to try out the English version from Japan:

Twisted Wonderland is one of the most popular games in Japan. Pretty much all of my Japanese acquaintances are into it. So it’ll be interesting to see how the game fares in the US. A country whose audience is much less acquainted with pure otaku games like this. Especially when it’s not something shonen related.

What do you guys think of the game so far? Are you playing it now? Are you looking forward to the upcoming anime (which doesn’t have a release date yet). Tell us in the comments!
