Why you may not get ‘new’ MacBook Pros this year

Apple has been planning to refresh the rest of its portfolio of Macs, and rumours were rife that the refreshed MacBook Pro models could come later this year, but that may not be the case anymore. Mark Gurman of Bloomberg reports that the Cupertino giant plans to introduce new Macs in the first quarter of next year, probably in March.
In the latest edition of his Power On newsletter, Gurman says that Apple would launch the new Macs, including the two M2-powered MacBook Pros — 14-inch and 16-inch — in March next year. This corroborates analyst Ming-Chi Kuo’s prediction of the new MacBook Pros launching early next year.
Gurman further adds that these new Macs could launch in March since the company has rarely released new products in January or February. Further, the launch of new Macs aligns with the arrival of macOS 13.2, which as per Gurman, might also come out sometime between February and March.
Every piece of rumour predicted a late 2022 arrival of the new MacBook Pros, but Apple CEO Tim Cook put an end to the rumours, saying that the company’s product lineup is “set” for the holiday season. Meanwhile, CFO Luca Maestri expects Mac revenue to “decline substantially” in the coming quarter, probably because there are no new Macs to launch later this year.
The upcoming MacBook Pro models are expected to have a similar design as the current ones, but with newer chips — M2 Pro and M2 Max.
