“CODA” star Troy Kotsur and “West Side Story” star Ariana DeBose continued their winning ways as the best supporting actors at Sunday’s Critics Choice Awards.

Both actors won Critics Choice honors just hours after winning the same categories at the British Academy Film Awards in London on Sunday, with Kotsur and DeBose accepting their trophies by satellite from London’s Savoy Hotel.

“I send you my heart and love,” said Kotsur, speaking in American Sign Language by satellite to the audience assembled at Los Angeles’ Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel.

DeBose gave thanks to her “West Side Story” co-star, 90-year-old Rita Moreno, also nominated in the category.

“You made space for me to thrive beside you,” said DeBose. “That’s the greatest gift.”

Will Smith, also a BAFTA winner for his role in “King Richard,” accepted his Critics Choice best actor award in Los Angeles. Smith gave high-fives to producers Serena and Venus Williams before hitting the stage to accept the award, telling the tennis stars and film subjects, “You define the American dream.” Jessica Chastain won best actress for her role in “The Eyes of Tammy Faye.”

BAFTA Awards: ‘The Power of the Dog’ wins best picture, Will Smith takes best actor

The Critics Choice Awards have taken on greater importance in the Oscar race in light of the collapse of the Golden Globes, which were not televised this year as a result of backlash around the scandal-ridden awards program.

Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” and Kenneth Branagh’s “Belfast” led the 27th annual Critics Choice Awards film nominations, earning 11 each. Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi epic “Dune” and Jane Campion’s Netflix Western “The Power of the Dog,” starring Benedict Cumberbatch, followed closely with 10 nominations.

The Academy Awards are March 27.
