23-time grand slam champion Serena Williams crashed out of Wimbledon 2022 in the first round after a three-set loss to Frenchwoman Harmony Tan. Serena, who was handed a wildcard for the tournament, lost the first set 5-7, but came roaring back into the contest by taking the second set 6-1. She had several opportunities of closing the game in the decider, including serving for the match at 5-4, but failed in her attempts.
Tan came back from 4-5 down to win the deciding set 7-6 in a super tie-breaker to claim one of the biggest wins of her career. Even in the tie-breaker Tan came back from 0-4 down to eventually clinch it 10-7.
