Microsoft has announced more retro additions to the Xbox Game Pass from the 90s and 2000s at the recently concluded Bethesda annual event — QuakeCon. The tech giant has acquired the publisher and all its developers to get Bethesda games onto its Game Pass service.
According to a report by Metro UK, games that have been newly added to the PC Game Pass include — 1992’s Wolfenstein 3D, 1997’s An Elder Scrolls Legend: Battlespire, 1998’s The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard, 2001’s Return To Castle Wolfenstein, and 2005’s Quake 4. The report adds that more details about each game will be available on the Xbox website.

Apart from this, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can now also have access to a Champions Pack for Quake Champions, which will allow gamers to play as all 16 characters. As per the report, this move is to promote Quake Champions’ formal release.

This game has been in early access since 2017, however, the full version is now available as a free-to-play title, the report mentions. Moreover, the report adds that Wolfenstein 3D, Return To Castle Wolfenstein, and Quake 4 are still not available on the Microsoft Store in Germany.
Other games added by Microsoft for PC users
As per the report, Microsoft has also quietly made the entire fantasy first-person shooter series, Hexen/Heretic available for purchase on PC. These games cost £3.99 each and are not part of the Game Pass.
The report claims that the games that are now available for purchase on PC include — Heretic: Shadow Of The Serpent Riders (the first game from 1996), Hexen: Beyond Heretic (the 1995 sequel), and Hexen: Deathkings Of The Dark Citadel (an expansion pack for Beyond Heretic).
However, the report also adds that the only entry missing from the series is Heretic 2, which is the final entry that was released in 1998. The report notes that at this point the series’ developer Raven Software had been acquired by Activision, so the company (that Microsoft has been trying to acquire since the beginning of 2022) holds the publishing rights for the game.
