Jeremy Clarkson, 61, has responded to a claim made by an apparently outraged fan, who suggested that the TV star should have received a knighthood by now. The presenter responded, explaining that knighthoods come at a cost.

The fan tweeted Jeremy, explaining that he’d read the stars’ new book about Diddly Squat Farm, wishing him well.

The post was sent in full view of the host’s 7.6 million followers.

@Davefrye15 wrote: “Bought your book about Diddly Squat Farm, an amazing read and stark reality about farming in this modern yet pan (dem) icking era.

“Thank you again from America. May you and your family be safe, happy and well.“(sic)

There were 12 letters of support for the star, but seven out of 10 councillors refused his plans.

The grounds of refusal were that building a restaurant would be “out of keeping” with the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

After the result, Jeremy said it was “a poor day for farming”.

But Clarkson’s Farm has caused a lot of trouble in the local area, creating traffic caused by innumerable visitors.
