YouTube Music may have a vast library of songs due to different versions it allows users to play from YouTube but the platform is several steps behind when it comes to features. The Google-owned company has been working on bringing the app to a competitive level by introducing loads of features. One of these features is real-time lyrics that have already been present on various third-party apps as well.
What is real-time lyrics
With real-time lyrics, users can follow the words and sing along to their favourite songs as each line which is being sung is highlighted or pops-up on the screen. According to 9to5Google, the feature is being rolled out on Android and iPhones.
While on Android, there’s no such ‘effect’ in the lyrics tab but it is reported that on iPhones, there is a background blur effect on the lyrics page.
A lot of users have posted screenshots on Reddit showing the feature has already been enabled. However, users in the Times of India-Gadgets Now team haven’t got the feature yet. YouTube Music currently shows static lyrics in the middle tab of Now Playing screen.
YouTube recently rolled out song and album credits to the Music app. It allows users to see song and album credits when listening to their favourite music.
YouTube Music auto-downloads
The development comes a few days after YouTube Music got a new feature that enables users to automatically download recently played songs they played. The feature is reportedly available on Android and is enabled by default.
The feature automatically downloads up to 200 recently played songs. However, it is to be noted that there is no separate playlist for Recently played songs in the Library tab.
This feature, which was mentioned in YouTube Music’s February 2023 New Features Highlights, was introduced in mid-January. However, it made its way to a wider audience on Android last month. The feature is not yet available for YouTube Music on iOS.
