Following Microsoft’s massive acquisition of Activision Blizzard, Sony also splurged huge last month by acquiring Destiny 2 developers, Bungie.

In a deal valued at $3.6 billion, Sony now has the rights to some of the biggest IPs in the world of MMORPG. Along with that, fans also know the company’s great track record as it has created franchises like Destiny and Halo.

While Sony will be thrilled to add more video games to their library following its recent purchase, the company also has an opportunity to expand these franchise into other media.

During Sony’s recent earnings call Q&A, CFO Hiroki Totoki explained that the Japanese corporation has aspirations to spin franchises like Destiny in a multi-dimensional manner.

John Wick star Lance Riddick, who’s the voice of Commander Zavala in the popular MMORPG recently tweeted about his excitement for the recent acquisition.

Bungie has always had plans to take the next step with the Destiny franchise by producing live-action content such as TV shows, movies and many more.

With the lore the developers have developed for the series, Bungie has the chops to deliver quality storytelling with their many characters.

Along with that, with the help of many Sony subsidiaries such as Sony Pictures and Movies, Bungie now has the resources to make their plans come to life.

Similar to the likes of Marvel, DC or Star Wars, Bungie has many great characters, stories involving different factions like the Guardians, the Fallen and many more.

So, it shouldn’t come as a surprise if Sony slowly began to develop their own shared universe using these characters by employing the franchise’s lore that continues to grow.

Additionally, the company can also introduce fan favorite live-action characters along with the actors that voiced them such as Lance Riddick’s Commander Zavala, Nathan Fillion’s Cayde-6 and more.

In the end, fans are excited about Bungie’s future and hopefully, the company releases more information about their live-action projects in the near future.
