zeel jio partnership: ZEEL, Jio TV extend content partnership for two years

Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) has renewed its content partnership with Jio Platforms-owned live TV aggregation app Jio TV for two more years, media executives with knowledge of the matter have told ET.

As part of the deal, ZEEL’s suite of over 60 SD and HD channels will continue to be available on the Jio TV app.

ZEEL also distributes news broadcaster Zee Media’s channels.

The media company’s bundling deal with JioFiber for ZEE5 will come up for renewal later this year, a senior media industry executive said.

In its FY22 annual report, ZEEL had stated that the domestic digital subscription revenues grew at a healthy pace on account of the increased reach of ZEE5, offsetting pressure on TV subscription revenue.

Jio TV aggregates over 900 channels in 15 languages across multiple genres like entertainment, sports, and news. Barring Disney Star channels, the platform has content from most of the top publishers in India.

JioFiber, the high-speed wired broadband service of Reliance Jio, has an OTT aggregation platform called JioTV+ that collates content from services like Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, SonyLIV, ZEE5, and Sun NXT. JioFiber also offers access to other premium OTT apps like Netflix.
