Zoe Ball, 52, has addressed why she was missing from BBC Radio 2 on Thursday after former Popstars judge Nicki Chapman, 56, replaced her as host.

Zoe took to social media to thank Nicki for stepping in and to explain that she was elsewhere in preparation for King Charles’s Coronation next month.

Alongside a smiling selfie from Highgrove House, Zoe wrote: “Thanks to @Nicki_Chapman for breakfasting today.

“We’re in Gloucestershire making a special show about The Kings Garden @highgrovegarden (coming soon to @BBCRadio2).”

Nicki also took to social media to share a snap from the BBC Radio 2 studios.

She wrote in the caption: “Back with you on 2. Pop up Chappers returns to the Breakfast Show @bbcradio2 just for [Thursday].

“Sitting in for lovely Zo who’s at Highgrove House recording something very special! My lips are sealed.”

Nicki was joined by actor Nicholas Hoult who chatted about the new series of Hulu’s The Great.

It comes after Zoe returned home from a sun-soaked holiday in Cyprus with her family.

Zoe was joined by her siblings as well as her famous dad Johnny, 84.

In snaps shared from the Easter break, Zoe slipped into a strapless black and white swimsuit to top up her tan by the pool.

However, Zoe’s son has said he has no plans to follow in his famous family’s footsteps – admitting his style of music is completely different.

Woody, 22, who Zoe shares with ex-husband Fatboy Slim, 59, has already made a name for himself performing gigs at Glastonbury and in Ibiza.

As for whether he sees a future at BBC Radio 2, Woody told the Mirror: “No no, my music style is a bit different, I couldn’t play the stuff they play on primetime slots, not to be rude to anyone who enjoys it, but it’s not my kind of music.

“I feel like I’d go slightly nuts if I had to listen to the same pop stuff that you get a lot of the time there.”
