Intel introduces 4th gen Intel Xeon Sapphire Rapids CPUs

0
Intel today introduced the 4th gen Intel Xeon scalable processors, code-named Sapphire Rapids, Intel Xeon CPU Max Series, code-named Sapphire Rapids HBM, and Intel Data Center GPU Max Series, code-named Ponte Vecchio. These offer customers a significant increase in data center performance, efficiency, security and AI, cloud, network, and edge capabilities, as well as the world’s most powerful supercomputers.
The new 4th Intel Xeon processors offer enhanced power and performance efficiency through improved turbo boost technology and advanced power management features. Additionally, they feature integrated Intel Intelligent Power Management (IPM) technology to help ensure smarter utilization of power resources, as well as advanced reliability and security features to help protect and extend the life of the data center.
It features enhanced performance, security, reliability, and AI acceleration capabilities, enabling customers to do more with less.
Performance
4th Gen Intel Xeon provides significant performance, power, and cost advantages over prior generations. Customers can expect up to 2.9x better performance per watt, 70W power savings, and 52-66% lower TCO. Built-in accelerators make these improvements possible.
Sustainability
The fourth generation of Intel Xeon has been constructed using at least 90% renewable electricity from Intel’s own sites and is equipped with advanced water reclamation systems. Additionally, the Optimized Power Mode can help save up to 20% power consumption with minimal impact on performance for certain tasks. Moreover, new air and liquid cooling solutions can further decrease the energy requirements of data centers.
Artificial Intelligence
Intel’s 4th Gen Xeon improves on the performance for a range of AI workloads. The Xeon CPU Max Series has improved natural language processing, enabling customers to experience up to 20x faster processing on large language models. Additionally, Intel’s AI software suite allows developers to utilize their preferred AI tools while making development time more efficient.
Networking
The 4th Gen Xeon processor family is designed to provide optimal performance and low latency for network and edge-based workloads.
High-performance computing
The Intel Data Center GPU Max Series is Intel’s highest-density processor yet, offering up to 8x density compared with 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors. This new processor series is available in multiple form factors, allowing customers to choose the best solution for their particular workloads. The Intel Data Center GPU Max Series packs up to 8x more compute cores and up to 5x more memory bandwidth than 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors.
