Novak Djokovic sparks injury fears years after his surgery as he’s seen wearing strapping | Tennis | Sport
“I was trying to avoid getting on that table because I am not a fan of surgeries or medications. I am just trying to be as natural as possible, and I believe that our bodies are self-healing mechanisms. I don’t ever want to get myself in the situation where I have to have another surgery.
“But I think it was a call that I had to make. I was not ready to take another six months or 12 months or whatever. I needed to get back on the court and that was the compromise. At the time I was filled with mixed emotions. I was doubting. I was also being a bit afraid of whether I am going to recover at the fullest. Because you never know how your body will react to very aggressive medical treatment.”
Djokovic is hoping to go all the way in Monte Carlo, having arrived as the top seed and not lifting the title since 2015. Prior to his success on Tuesday, he had only won once in the competition since 2019 too.
