Star Wars Fans Already Theorizing Teen Grogu Will Appear in Daisy Ridley Sequel Movie

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has shared new details about the story of Daisy Ridley’s Star Wars movie, while fans are already creating their own theories about The Mandalorian’s Grogu connecting with Rey.

Taking to Reddit in the wake of the film’s announcement at Star Wars Celebration, Grogu quickly became a topic of discussion around the film since roughly thirty years will have passed since his appearance in The Mandalorian.

“Any bets that teen Grogu will be in this one?,” asked Alive-Ad-5245. “Wouldn’t hate that at all,” said Pretend_Ambassador_6. “But he can’t have a Yoda-like personality. Would rather see him take after our favourite Mandalorian.”

ConradSchu weighed in too, appearing to agree that the timeline would make the move a possibility. “He’s fifty after Return of the Jedi,” they said. “30ish years later he would just be a pre-teen/teen.”

Including another force-sensitive character would certainly make sense for the film, as Kennedy explained to IGN that Rey is looking to rebuild the Jedi Order.

“We’re 15 years out from Rise of Skywalker, so we’re post-war, post-First Order, and the Jedi are in disarray, and there’s a lot of discussion around who are the Jedi, what are they doing, what’s the state of the galaxy?,” Kennedy said.

“She’s attempting to rebuild the Jedi Order based on the books, based on what she promised Luke. So that’s where we’re going.” Kennedy didn’t say much about whether or not Luke will appear as a force ghost to guide Rey, “but certainly the spirit of what he represents to her is going to be significant.”

Ridley was last seen in 2019’s Rise of Skywalker but Rey’s character has been somewhat neglected since, with very few stories in the Star Wars extended universe following up on her story.

These film announcements capped off a very busy Star Wars Celebration, with updates on Andor Season 2, Ahsoka, The Mandalorian, The Acolyte, and more, and you can read about every single announcement right here on IGN.
